Spring Summer 2027 Collection

Sun Poem

The Wales Bonner Spring Summer 2027 collection began as a study of portraiture. The nuance of refining oneself, glimpses of character in the anomalies of an image. Rich traditions of documentary photography inform gesture. Street-level glances, many rhythms. A wardrobe introspective and assured, a personal style that moves calmly between states of dress - between intimate, domestic space and the cacophony of the street.

The colour palette is at once expressive and restrained: earthen tones alongside primary colours, warm and muted like haze of midday sun. A refined blouson in bark brown; bright and rhythmized stripes on fine-gauge knitwear; and a suede sash in green, appearing timeworn or light-faded on a bomber jacket in nappa leather.

Unexpected manifestations of the familiar continue to emerge as heritage checks and chevrons ode to tradition. Signature Wales Bonner tailoring in navy wool is given off-kilter soul with a single satin lapel. Collaged fabrics enliven a wool top coat worn on bare skin, made in partnership with Anderson and Sheppard.

Bengal stripe shirting fits loose and relaxed, carrying personal charm as Malaika, meaning angel, is emblazoned on the back. New renditions of the Paris Trainer, Dakar Loafer, and Julien Slipper in leather, suede and ponyhair unite an elevated wardrobe for the everyday.

"This then is the rhythm

And the blues of it

Home is where the music is"

Keorapetse Kgositsile, "For Hugh Masekela", in This Way I Salute You, Cape Town: Kwela / Snailpress, 2007.
