Music for movement. Sound for celebration.

Togetherness is a series of musical experiences highlighting singular artists, hybrid cultural expressions, and the joy of human connection. The shows are curated to emphasize a sense of discovery, giving audiences a chance to experience both new artists and new facets of familiar ones in non-traditional concert settings.

The second Togetherness event was presented concurrently to Rashid Johnson: A Poem for Deep Thinkers, on view at Guggenheim New York through January 18th, 2026. This major solo exhibition features nearly 90 artworks from across Johnson's diverse body of work, including black-soap paintings, spray-painted text works, and large-scale sculptures, film, and video.

The evening featured performances from The Cavemen, the Nigerian duo combining generations of highlife musicality with contemporary afropop rhythms; Etran de L’Air, the Niger group reanimating age-old traditions of Sahel rock music; The Joy, a South African choral group known for their a cappella singing; Ghanaian-American singer Amaarae; Nigerian Afrobeats superstar Fireboy DML; American rapper Navy Blue; renowned hip-hop producer Sir Rashad Ringo Smith; NYC-based producer and singer-songwriter keiyaA; LA-based DJ Ade “Acyde” Odunlami; and Lagos-born New York DJ, Akanbi.

Etran de L'Aïr Togetherness Wales Bonner Guggenheim 2025

Etran de L’Aïr - or “stars of the Aïr region” - is a family band based in Agadez, Niger, the capital city of Saharan rock. Playing for over 25 years, Etran has emerged as stars of the local wedding circuit. Beloved for their dynamic repertoire of hypnotic solos and sun schlazed melodies, Etran stakes out a place for Agadez guitar music.

A resonant expression of community - where shared presence, cultural connection, and creative collaboration came together in soulful exchange.

Artists came together to their own rhythm - blending sound, style, and soul in a celebration of Afro-Atlantic spirit and shared creativity. Joy made visible, a living pulse of Togetherness that moved through every note and gesture.

The spiraling architecture of the Guggenheim became a vessel for gathering, a sanctuary where sound, movement, and spirit echo through space, shaping a shared experience both intimate and infinite.
